On 12 February 2015 IMI Critical opened its brand new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Houston. The new facility took just over one year, 13 thousand man hours of construction and 6,000 tons of concrete and steel to build. At 120,000 square feet, it is three times the size of the facility it replaces, and brings together three IMI Critical businesses on one site - IMI Z&J Houston, IMI Remosa and IMI CCI Houston.
The IMI Critical Engineering Board hosted a customer reception to celebrate the official site opening, with over 80 customers attending, including UOP (Honeywell), Technip, Bechtel, ExxonMobil, CB&I, Foster Wheeler.
Customers had the opportunity to take a tour of the facility, and see the latest technology that has been incorporated into the site, including plasma cutting and water jet cutting, as well as many very large CNC machining centres and plasma arc welding equipment. Roy Twite, Divisional Managing Director of IMI Critical, thanked customers for taking time to attend the opening. "Your business is the reason that we have been able to invest here in Houston and we really appreciate that," he said.
Daniele Cecchelli, President of IMI Z&J, who led the project, commented: "As an innovative and growing company, we are constantly striving to deliver best-in-class highly engineered solutions featuring technologically advanced products and services. This new state-of-the-art facility will not only enhance our manufacturing capabilities, but it will also provide our employees with a great work environment and help better service our customers."
