On 21st July 2015 IMI Orton was awarded for outstanding contribution to the success of the Golden Eagle Area Development project by the Nexen Petroleum U.K. Ltd. Procurement Manager Mr. Martin Monger, stated in the award letter just 12 suppliers out of a total of 116 vendors participating to this project have been award with this prestigious recognition.
Golden Eagle Area Development project, GEAD, is an Offshore Oil Field located in the U.K. North Sea block, the field is expected to produce an estimated 140 million barrels of oil equivalent over an 18 year period. The development will comprise two subsea drilling/production centres and a heavy duty jackup drilling rig over a newly installed wellhead platform that will be bridge-linked to a fixed production/utilities/quarters platform.
The End User of the plant is Nexen Petroleum U.K. Ltd (a CNOOC Limited Company) which, working in a joint venture with CB&I U.K., also directly awarded Orton the Frame Agreement for the supply of Manual and Actuated Butterfly valves package in June 2011.
The Frame Agreement was executed with 11 call-offs of which the total scope of supply for IMI Orton consisted of 311 triple offset metal seated butterfly valves with manual, electric and pneumatic actuation, in sizes from 3" to 20" diameter, mainly in Super Duplex material.
In a first commendation letter Nexen declared "Nexen would like to hereby acknowledge IMI Orton's expertise, together with the support and dedication provided to the Project, ensuring an excellent overall performance.
